Sous the cat — off to the grocery store
Share a private link so friends can shop from the same live list. Links are not public. Anyone with the link can open it. People who open it in the app and sign in join your library. One live grocery list so you’re not juggling two lists or a text thread at the store. See Shopping List to build a list. After you create one, Souschef offers Invite Friends on the spot. Sharing uses the same private-link model as collections.

Create a list, or open Share on one you own

Open a shopping list you own. After you create a shopping list, Souschef offers Invite Friends on the spot.

Choose Allow editing on or off

Allow editing on: people who join in the app become Collaborators. Allow editing off: they join as Viewers.

Copy or send the private link

Send the link however you usually share — Messages, email, or another app.
The link is unlisted — it isn’t a public page. Web pages for shared lists are not meant to show up in search results.

Shared links look like trysouschef.app/s/….
Open the link in a browser. You don’t need an account.
  • Allow editing on: enter a short name, then check or uncheck items. Others see who checked what.
  • View only: look, don’t check.
Web guests are not added to the app until they sign in and join.
If a link is off, expired, or unknown, you’ll see: This link is no longer available. Ask the owner to send a new private link. See Share link unavailable.

Who can do what

  • You (owner) — share, change the link type, remove people, turn sharing off, rename, and delete the list.
  • Collaborator — add or edit items, check off, and rename. They cannot delete the list or turn sharing off.
  • Viewer — look only. They can leave.
  • Web guest (editing on) — check items with a name. They are not added to the app until they sign in and join.
View-only members can see the list but cannot shop it. Web guests must add a short name before checking items.

Use a shared list in the app

Switch lists from the title to move between lists you own and lists you joined. Shared lists show people’s avatars. Checks say who last checked them.

Owners manage people from Share. If you don’t own the list, you can leave it and rejoin later with the same still-active link.

Share as plain text instead

Shopping lists only: Share as text sends a one-time copy. That is not live. Use this when you need to send the list to someone who doesn’t use Souschef — sorted by aisle — via Messages or any messaging app. For a live list, use the private link above.

Turn sharing off

The owner can turn off sharing / collaboration at any time.
The list is private again. The link stops working. Everyone else loses access. Checked items stay on yours.
  • New link — the old link dies. People who already joined keep access.
  • Remove someone — they lose access until they use a working link again.
Lists with no edits or check-offs for 7 days are deleted — including shared ones. Checking something counts as activity.
