# Shared link says it is no longer available

> If a collection or shopping list link says it is no longer available, the owner turned sharing off, replaced the link, or the link is unknown.

</div>

If a collection or shopping list link opens to **This link is no longer available. Ask the owner to send a new private link.**, the link itself no longer works. This is not a problem with your account.

## Why the link stopped working

* The owner turned off sharing / collaboration.
* The owner created a new link. The old link dies.
* The link is expired or unknown.

If you already joined in the app before the owner created a new link, you keep access. You only need a working link again if you never joined, you left, or the owner removed you.

## What to do

Ask the owner to send a new private link. Open it in the app, sign in, and join again.

Owners can turn sharing back on, change **Allow editing**, or copy a new link from **Share** on the collection or list they own. See [Shared collections](/using/shared-collections) and [Share a shopping list](/using/share-shopping-list).

## Still need help?

If the owner sent a fresh link and it still doesn’t open, [contact support](/troubleshooting/contact-support) and include the link if you can.
